This trimester in wood work for my impact project I made a wooden model train. I finished it on the weekend during lockdown. It looks really cool. My dad helped me buy some bolts and washers. The train is made out of rimu and I added a couple of details.
I liked designing the plans for the train because I had to think of what I wanted the train to look like and where I wanted to put all the different details.
I got frustrated when the train slipped out of my fingers when I was bringing it to the shed. The whole back of it broken half because the wood splits easy. Luckily I was able to glue it back together.
I found it tricky to stain the train because the tin of stain got stirred up. All the thick stain at the bottom mixed with all the thin stain on the top. This made it really thick so was hard to paint on.
Here's is my wooden train that I built.

ReplyDeleteI LOVE your train. Did it take long to build? What were some special details you added to it. Will you be adding any carriages to it? Keep up the awesome mahi!!

ReplyDeleteIt took me about 36 hours. The nose on the front off the train, the bumpers on each corner, the chimney, the boiler cap. I have 2 characters at home from another train I have at home but I still might make another carriage furthest tain.

Hello Stella from St Mary's School
ReplyDeleteI haven't made a car out of wood but I have made cardboard cars. I want to make the tractor today because it is too wet and cold outside so I won't be able to use all my power tools sorry.Ma te wa William
